Heavy eyelids closing over
Sandpaper pupils
Dilated against the scorching sun
Here we have no wanting

Until the thirst begins to take hold
Its claws leaving desperate marks
In our parched throats
Dust storms swirl to crush out the air
And darken over the landscape
In monotone tinges of desert sand
Here we have no dreaming
Only the madness
Of a reality so twisted
Can’t be grasped by our naive minds
This barren plateau stripped down
Of its beauty
Where we now live breathlessly
Waiting on our ends unknown
